Handmade and painted in Kondapalli, India. Kondapalli is a large village located in the western part of Vijayawada in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The toys, animals and mythological figures are named after the village and reflect centuries of tradition and craftmanship in their intricate designs.

Each artisan group has their own unique style, and often extended families work together to produce the pieces. Using a soft wood called Tella Poniki that is harvested nearby, the pieces are hand carved and then vibrantly painted.
Many pieces tell a story and are popular at local handicraft fairs and used to display in homes or as toys for children.
