Lucky Cat Maneki-neko, translated as beckoning cat but also known as lucky cat, is recognizedable internationally. Maneki-neko style Japanese cat dolls can be traced back to the Edo period (1603-1868). They depict a Japanese Bobtail cat with its paw raised in a beckoning gesture. Some of these cats have motorized arms so that they can wave all day long. Maneki-neko are typically displayed at the entrances of businesses in order to entice customers to come inside but are now used everywhere as a symbol of good luck and prosperity. This garland is handcrafted in Nepal using Daphne (Lokta) plant bark.
